Does your mask protect you or your employees?

If you wear a mask to protect you against whatever it is you are working with, whether that is a disposable, half or full face or even breathing apparatus, and it requires a seal to ensure that it is protecting you, then why risk your health or that of your employees by wearing/supplying ill-fitting face pieces.

We are all unique and each mask of different makes and models are different shapes sizes and there is no "one size fits all!"

To give yourself or employees/colleagues piece of mind, we offer face fit testing by a technician deemed "competent" by the BSIF by passing their fit2fit accreditation scheme. Both Quantitative and qualitative methods are available and even if it is only a question you have at the early stages of ensuring you have the right RPE please feel free to contact us to discuss your requirements.

IESS are a family run business, offering a fully fit2fit accredited quantitative and qualitative face fit testing service. Our mission is to offer a fast efficient service, tailored to the needs of each customer, whilst maintaining high standards of workmanship. This will ensure companies remain compliant with HSE legislation HASAWA (1974), COSHH 2005, CLAW 2002 and CAW 2012. IESS have a quality led customer focused team, who will offer flexibility and efficiency, there by ensuring minimum disruption to your company.

Quantitative Face Fit Testing

As stated in HSE OC 282/28 - Quantitative fit testing provides a numerical measure of the fit that is called a fit factor. These tests give an objective measure of face fit. They require specialised equipment and are more complicated to carry out than qualitative methods. Quantitative methods are required for full face masks and can also be used for half masks and FFP (disposable face masks). The methd of quantitative fit testing we use is a portable particle counting device called the TSI Portacount.

Qualitative Face Fit Testing

As stated in HSE OC 282/28 - Qualitative fit testing is a simple pass/fail test based on the wearer’s subjective assessment of the leakage, via the face seal region, of a test agent. These tests are relatively simple to perform and are suitable for half masks and filtering facepieces. They are not suitable for full face masks. The qualitative fit testing method we use is based on the bitter or sweet tasting aerosol
